The Four Way Test. And Why It Matters.
AN ETHICAL FRAMEWORK. FOR LIFE.
We all grew up learning the Golden Rule. But this world we live and work in is comprised of a myriad of complex, often interconnected relationships. And to be most successful in all those relationships requires something a bit more dynamic as a guide. A guide that encompasses honesty/integrity, fairness, altruism and mutual benefit.
Because how can we work to build a better world if we aren’t working equally to be better people? With a rich history, the Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The Test has been translated into more than 100 languages and Rotarians recite it at club meetings.
Of the things we think, say or do…
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL
and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Is it BENEFICIAL
to all concerned?
